If there is something that defines the Kotai table collection, it is precisely its soundness, as its own Japanese name denotes. Made of solid wood, its most distinctive feature is the bevel alongside its four edges and the cleavage dividing it into two identical halves and highlighting the unique possibilities of this noble material.
Kotai is not just gorgeous but functional, with biased legs to help chairs fit smoothly and with natural elegance under the tabletop.
Mario Ruiz
A graduate in Industrial Design from the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona, he started his independent career in 1995. Thanks to his skills and multidisciplinary experience he has earned the confidence of more than 120 leading companies around the world. For some of these companies he has not only developed products in many a different field such as home and office furniture, lighting, textile design and graphics, but has also performed as creative director defining their product catalogues, brand image and graphic identity, as well as planning their showrooms and trade fair stands.
His work has been acknowledged with more than 40 of the most prestigious awards in Europe and the United States, including several Red Dot, IF, Design Plus, Wallpaper Awards08 and ADI-FAD Silver Delta Awards. In 2016, he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño, the highest honor for design professionals and companies in Spain. For more than 10 years, he has also been a lecturer at the Eina and Elisava design schools in Barcelona.
