FONTAL

This project is born from the wish to recover rattan as a fine material and reclaim our country’s rich craftsmanship tradition. I have tried to give a new look to an ancient technique replacing the brackets and bonds traditionally used as connecting elements by the twinning of one cane to the next.

Thanks to this innovative solution we have achieved a strong, flexible and lightweight structure. This is how Fontal evolves into a warm, likeable and luxurious seat in the true sense of the word.

Oscar Tusquets Blanca

Architect by profession, designer by adaptation, painter by vocation and writer out of the need to make friends, Tusquets (Barcelona, 1941) is the prototype of all-round artist brought to the verge of extinction due to modern world specialization. He graduated as an architect in 1965 from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcelona. He worked with Lluís Clotet at Studio Per until 1984. He was one of the founding members of BD Barcelona Design, where he launched his career as a furniture and object designer. His designs can be found in some of the most outstanding museums in the world like the MoMA in New York or the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
