"Dirk and the Chocolate Factory" is a unique space to embrace summer, featuring outdoor designs like the TIMELESS collection and the refreshing LA SIESTA bottle. Located in Girona, this residential project by Anna & Eugeni Bach transforms an old chocolate factory into a stunning home and studio.
Located in the heart of La Bisbal, this late 19th-century industrial building features stone walls and three open-plan floors, showcasing a striking combination of metal beams, Catalan vaulting, wooden joists, and brick roofs finished with ceramic tiles.
The outdoor spaces embrace the Mediterranean climate with a central courtyard pool and a semi-covered terrace framed by metal beams and a reed lattice, creating playful sunlight and dramatic shadows. Surrounding this courtyard are the first-floor living room, porch, kitchen, dining room, and second-floor terrace, blending indoor and outdoor spaces to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
 

  At the core of the renovated home lies the courtyard, where the TIMELESS collection creates a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. Designed in 2018 by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and Borja García, the series features clean geometric forms crafted from powder-coated welded aluminum, teak wood, and ultra-compact Dekton® mineral surfaces. This thoughtful material combination ensures durability, practicality, and a design that stands the test of time.

 

 Positioned near the striking rustic-style glass doors and just steps from the pool, four TIMELESS XS lounge chairs with white Patio Outdoor fabric cushions create a relaxed and inviting retreat. Two side tables from the same collection, featuring Dekton® Zenith tabletops, complete the setup, while Eden Blu fabric cushions add a subtle touch of color and personality.

 

On the terracotta tiles of the Empordà farmhouse sit the contemporary LA SIESTA jugs, a reimagined design icon that honors traditional materials and textures. Created by Alberto Martínez, Héctor Serrano, and Raky Martínez, these terracotta bottles blend the aesthetics of a classic mineral water bottle with the functionality of a Mediterranean staple. They celebrate the connection to nature, light, and the joy of outdoor living and dining.

 

 While the TIMELESS collection is characterized by its timeless and durable design and the LA SIESTA botijo evokes the lightness of a cool drink of water, "Dirk and the Chocolate Factory" preserves the essence of a building of singular character and transforms it into a home full of life.
